If you're looking for the perfect base for a family holiday in the Alps, Dorealp is a great find - with many chalets catering for large groups, this superb apartment on the second floor of a chalet has plenty of room for six people.
Situated in a quiet cul de sac, it's just a seven minute walk from the busy village of La Clusaz, where you'll find a great choice of shops, bars and restaurants, as well as a weekly market which offers local produce and crafts.
The shuttle bus stops just 150m from your door, and if you're visiting in the winter, it's just another 50m walk to the green slope which takes you straight into the village. Outside of the ski season, La Clusaz boasts a modern watersports centre providing activities for all ages and a wellbeing area. The nearby Lake Annecy is another great place for swimming, paddleboarding, and sailing.
The property...
This bright second-floor apartment in a quiet location sleeps six people in three bedrooms, with two bathrooms. A recent refurbishment has seen a new kitchen and bathrooms, and a fresh new look with neutral colours and modern furniture, which compliment the apartment's traditional mountain style.
The accommodation is all set on one floor of the chalet which has four other apartments. There's a wonderfully spacious open living and dining, area which spans the full width of the apartment and opens on to a sunny, south-facing balcony. It's a wonderful place to relax with your morning coffee, or perhaps watch the sunset over the Aravis mountains with a glass of wine.
In the small kitchen, which is separated from the dining area by a breakfast bar, it has everything you need to cook up a hearty dinner, and there's a large fridge and dishwasher to make life easier.
There are three bedrooms: a double with a Velux window and an en suite shower room; a twin and a single bedroom, both of which have mountains views.
The apartment also has a garage and there's a ski room with a boot warmer and storage in the cellar.
About the area...
The apartment Dorealp is a great choice for skiing holidays. The ski bus stops just 300 m away, the Nant piste isn’t much further, and from there it’s just a minute’s ski down to the ski school meeting point in Bossonet, La Clusaz.
La Clusaz is an authentic mountain village which blends tradition with up-to-date facilities. Its traditional chalets and lively streets offer a vibrant setting with Savoyard charm. Nestled in the heart of the Aravis massif, it is only 30 min from Annecy and close to Le Grand-Bornand and Manigod. Its warm atmosphere and easy accessibility make it a popular destination year-round.
In winter, the resort provides easy access to the Aravis ski area, offering 210km of pistes that combine long descents and technical sectors across La Clusaz, Le Grand-Bornand, Manigod, and Saint-Jean-de-Sixt. The region also offers a variety of winter activities, including cross-country skiing, dog sledding, sledging, snow biking, ice diving and ice skating.
During the rest of the year, numerous hiking and biking trails lead to superb views over the Aravis, such as the Plateau des Glières. Dorealp is a recently refurbished apartment for six, on the second floor of a chalet, just seven minutes' walk from the centre of La Clusaz.
It's a great choice for a family looking to avoid the anonymous apartment blocks which are so common in many other ski resorts. Here you get a quiet location just a short walk from the piste and the ski bus, but with all the facilities of this traditional village close by.
The accommodation takes up the second floor of this five-apartment chalet. Sloping roofs restrict head height in some of the bedrooms, but the advantage of being at the top of the chalet is that there is no one above you to disturb your peace.
The bedrooms and the kitchen are compact, but there's plenty of room in the open plan living dining area, which opens on to a sunny furnished balcony where you can enjoy a drink, a meal, or just breathe in that fresh mountain air.
The apartment has recently been refurbished, with new shower rooms and kitchen, which has been cleverly designed to include everything you need to cook up a feast. But with so many great restaurants in La Clusaz, many of which offer a takeaway service, you might prefer to take a break from the cooking.
We think Dorealp is a great choice for a family looking for a quiet base from which to enjoy great skiing in the winter, walking in the summer, while making the most of traditional village life. It's sure to be a popular choice with our guests!

We loved the idea of a penthouse apartment, especially as the location was perfect - a little green oasis, quiet, sunny and near the river. It's also very close to the piste - just a 100m walk away.
The lovely big windows and the terrace, off the living area, mean you have great views of the mountains, the skiers and paraglider, depending on what time of year you visit. The atmosphere at Dorealp is contemporary but cosy, and everything has been designed to make sure your holiday is pleasant and carefree.
